Plank Piece, 1973Charles Ray
“Ray was part of a wave of artists during the 1970s who addressed sculpture as an activity rather than as an object. In the iconic two-part photographic work Plank Piece the artist documents the use of his own body as the sculptural component. The static photograph belies the performative nature of the activity presented. Contrived through a complex balance between weight and gravity the artist suspended his body using only a plank of wood, creating a minimal, graphic image that is at once humorous and unsettling.”

3 / Good Weather for Airstrikes - Everything that Holds me Back.

Not to be confused with the other post-rock/ambient band; Good Weather for an Airstrike, it’s obvious that the big difference here is the amount of airstrikes involved in making their music. But really, you shouldn’t be fooled by the extreme similarity in their titles; if I had to explain it as simply as I could, I’d say that GWFAA is what I’d listen to before going to sleep; (soothing ambience, heavenly escapism, awesome), while GWFA is what I’d listen to early in the morning on my way to school; (rightfully loud, fast-pased, awesome)

Both are amazing bands in book, just quite different.

This song is also my fav by them.

*Consider supporting any/all of these bands if you like what you hear. Cheers to post-rock!
